In my house at least once a week, my children eat Candy Sprinkle Pizza for dinner. If you have a Cuisinart or food processor then this will be a fast favorite. I'll start with the topping. I use any veggies really but I would suggest broccoli and carrots alone to start. I put the chunks in the food processor and chop them until they look just like candy sprinkles. Then I transfer to a bowl and make the dough. The dough is universal and super easy! Pizza dough, bread sticks, rolls, cinnamon rolls, you get the idea. Now you are getting the idea :O) Dough, sauce, cheese, veggies..hm-mm..candy sprinkles. The dough recipe will be easy to remember.
Pizza Dough
1 package yeast (or bulk equivalent)
1 tsp sugar
1/4 cup water
Mix all in a glass container let sit 5 minutes to get foamy~
Next in the FP add:
2 cup Flour
2 TBSP Veg or olive oil
1 tsp salt
Add the foamy to the dry and pulse the FP to get it started. If you have a dough blade use it but I have done it with both without trouble. Now just let it turn on regular speed. You want to get it to ball form and it will clean the sides of the FP bowl as it turns when it is ready. If you need more water ad it a little at a time slowly. If you need more flour, same thing. Just do it slow and give the dough a chance to adapt before you go dumping in to much of either.
Rise 10 minutes. I have the oven on when I start the project for preheating and to rise the dough I just put it on the pizza pan and cover it with a bigger bowl and set it on the stove top. The heat from the oven is just right for the rise you need. Let it sit the 10 minutes and roll it out and top with your toppings. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes give or take 1 or 2 min :O)
Super easy~ 10-10-10 425 and go!
10 to make, 10 to rise and 10 to bake.
My pizza sauce is either left over pasta sauce or ( I love this one ) 1 small can tomato paste and italian seasoning and warm water. Useing you judgement on this it will work out every time!
Other ideas I have are to make cinnamon rolls~ Add 1/4 cup sugar to the flour mix in the start. Then roll it out, butter it up and a sugar and cinnamon mix. Roll it up, cut into shape and cook the same as the pizza.
Bread sticks~ Same recipe but I add garlic to the flour mix
Flavored crust~ add it to the flour mix, Italian seasoning maybe?
Huge tip!! I always put flour in the toppings mix when I grind it up. If there is meat like pepperoni it absorbs the grease and I just hate greasy pizza! Or put flour on top of the sauce, sprinkle it light and then add cheese and layer toppings. This is good to know for other cooking as well :O)
On the spring clean front. I have a crazy huge pile that I'll just do on ebay :O) I think for me it is less hoaky, I know I have seen the idea around but I don't know. :O) And If you live in the area I have two events next week to post about so stay tuned :O) If you have not signed up for the newsletter please take a minute to do that here. Thanks tons :O) Man I do smile a lot!
